Channel your inner rock god by ordering the Back in Black Bangers this summer at DBGB.
Chef Daniel Boulud partied in style on July 8 as he and his team celebrated the fifth anniversary of the more casual, meat-centric restaurant in his New York empire: DBGB. The celebration drew a lot of familiar faces, including chefs Anita Lo, Johnny Iuzzini, and Wylie Dufresne. The food and drinks from Boulud’s numerous restaurants flowed all night long, and there was even a visit from Marky Ramone (the drummer from the Ramones), in a nod to DBGB’s homage to the original CBGB punk-rock club, which used to be located just down the street from the current restaurant. The night culminated in the unveiling of a 7 foot-long baked Alaska, which was set on fire to the tune of The Doors’ “Light My Fire.”
“To me being 30 years in New York, five years represents a small window,” chef Boulud told The Daily Meal. “DBGB is one of those windows, and today it is the brightest one. DBGB is the most casual place we have, but we are always about great food and service no matter what.”
DBGB will soon be expanding, and will open up a Washington DC location later this year.
DBGB will be celebrating their anniversary all summer long with the introduction of the “Back in Black Birthday Banger,” a pork link studded with black trumpet mushrooms, on a black poppy seed bun, topped with black garlic sauce and caramelized onion. Guests can order this sizzling special from now until September 1st for $10, with a flight of five DBGB’s beers also for $10. Also, if DBGB fans post a photo from the restaurant on social media with the hashtag #DBGB5, they have a chance to win dinner for six with chef Boulud.
